My Cousin Rachel by Daphne du Maurier
5.0

Du Maurier is one of the best atmospheric thriller writers I’ve read. The blend of classical and gothic atmosphere with a mystery, the intentional vagueness, drops of plot glistening like hints that leave the reader enough to tease out the truth. Wonderful! Even our pig-headed protagonist touches my heart in spite of the frustration he raises.

There is some tightening that could be done, some cutting that would make the progression a touch faster, but those are my only critiques. I greatly loved this novel.
