Novels aren’t my thing, but when I sit down with one it has to be GOOD to keep my attention. This was amazing. The historical fiction-style novel is the best way to keep my attention. The complexities of each character, the depiction of how lies and unspoken truths hurt generations, and the ever present trauma that each generation endured are three key concepts that kept me engulfed. I listened to this audiobook and knew I was reading a classic. I have two copies of the book. I was long overdue for this book, but the time came at the right point. It gave me hope and I’m grateful.
