The Queen’s Rising is a book that has been on my bookshelf for a few years now, and after reading other Rebecca Ross books I decided it was time to read her debut novel. Let’s start off by saying that it’s pretty clear that this is a debut. It’s a very standard fantasy world, with nice characters and an easy plotline. The book is a fun read, but isn’t really spectacular or stands out like other books. It’s like a enjoyable palate cleanser. The most refreshing part was the fact that the main character is the chosen one, but not the secret royal or leader but an important piece in the larger scheme. I’m gonna continue this duology as I’m curious how things play out in the sequel.
