Mikhail Bulgakov’s Heart of a Dog is not just a tale of grotesque transformationβ€”it’s a savage satire of Soviet ideology and the twisted dream of engineered utopia, the eugenics.

β—‰ The stray dog in despair waiting for its saviour or death: Russian society

β—‰ The professor who rescues the dog from the streets and gives hima new life and hope: the bolsheviks and communists.

β—‰ Sharikov; the human-dog's hybrid: soviet union's transformation under Bolshevism.

And in the last part of the book, bulgakov talks about the human race and eugenics. he becomes aware of his mistakes and delusion that such experiments could improve the human race and create genius. the professor realises his mistake of going against nature and accepts that the idea of eugenics is absurd.
