A Sombra do Vento by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
5.0
I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of one of my favorite masters of the written word: Carlos Ruiz Zafón. It has always been extremely hard for me to describe the wonder with which The Shadow of the Wind hit my 13-year-old heart when I first glanced its pages. It's hard to believe there will no longer be new words and worlds from this great man, the first to teach me the mastery and skill it requires to built a glorious masterpiece, the fist one that forever broke the wall between book and author and forced me to acknowledge the sheer genius it would take to write something as grand and all-encompassing as this here book.
This man revolutionized the way I view, analyse and cherish the power of the written word, to have ever alerted me to its existence in the first place. Below I'll leave a link to an attempt at gathering my feelings in writing for this man and his wonderful, wonderful work.
Thank you Mr. Zafón, and here's to your eternal wandering in paradise, also known as The Cemetery of Forgotten Books.

I wasn't supposed to finish this book today... yet like last year, this brilliant work of fiction has me at a loss for words. The sheer genius of this book cannot be clearly expressed, at least right now. I recommend this beautiful tale to anyone with patience for a good story. This gave me chills, it gave the same feelings as watching a movie gives me, Mr. Zafón blew me away, for the 2nd time, with the same novel. I now am extremely interested in further exploring his work. 5 stars, over and over...
