More Than You'll Ever Know by Katie Gutierrez

4.0

There's a lot to unpack with this one... Identity, motherhood, womanhood, being a parent, true crime, and society's fascination with it...

The story is told on duel timelines from two flawed characters that are sometimes hard to like and other times felt very relatable. Cassie is ambitious and wants to write a book about a murder from the 80s where a man killed his wife's husband. And then there's Dolores, who destroyed her family and whose husband is in prison for killing her other husband. But as Cassie learns more about Dolores, she sees a different story, one of love, lies, and cover-ups.

I didn't have high hopes for this one since it was nominated for a good reads award, and those are mostly misses for me. But I really enjoyed reading More Than You'll Ever Know and recommend it to anyone who likes a good, slow-paced mystery.

4 stars because I felt like there was a little plot belly happening, could've used some editing to make it a bit shorter.
