Where We Found Our Home by Natasha Bishop
3.0

There were parts of this I enjoyed--I loved the Cole family, how ride-or-die Ciara's friends were, the theme of learning how to let people care for and protect you--but ultimately the sweetness in the moments that focused on the budding relationship between Lincoln and Ciara juxtaposed with the thriller tone of the stalker plot was too disjointed for me.

I think I would have enjoyed the book more if it had leaned more into the darker vibe. Not in the sense that I think anything more dangerous needed to happen, but making Golden Girls jokes during a scene where they're playing TV tag, for example, broke the tension I thought Natasha Bishop otherwise effectively created. The moment we first learn
Eddie had followed her and broken into her apartment
was so creepy! But then we're immediately back to something lighthearted. The tone yo-yod too much and I'd lost all sense of dread by the final climax.
