i read this for ap lit, which either made it more or less enjoyable...
definitely check the trigger warnings, and i would recommend reading this in a safe place that isn't public (coming from someone who started crying over it in the middle of school). hosseini's writing is quotable and beautiful, but i wish there were more female protagonists that were positive.i liked soraya, but her treatment of sohrab wasn't good, and amir's mom was an enigma at best.
overall i think this is a must read for those who can handle it, especially people from first-world countries. so heartbreaking and devastating, but there is hope to be had. there is a way to be good again.
