The Isle of the Lost by Melissa de la Cruz

Mixed feelings towards this. [a:Melissa de la Cruz|21911|Melissa de la Cruz|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1208363156p2/21911.jpg] is apparently some big-shot bestseller, but my first encounter with this Filipino-American author was less than adequate; the writing here is very iffy, I didn't care about any of the characters and the twists could be seen a mile off. However, just the premise of this book alone grants it a star and a half (all the evil Disney villians exiled to a tiny island off the coast of the Fairy Kingdom named Auradon where a magical barrier prevents all magic) and it's great fun to see the famous villains just chillin'. I did like the ending, too, and without giving it all away, I enjoyed the actual events. Apparently there's a movie sequel? If this was to rile up enthusiasm and excitement for the movie, it didn't. I'll never watch it. I enjoyed reading it, but actually sitting down and watching a movie with these characters seems almost hellish.
