I'm wavering between 2.5* and 3* but I'm feeling generous this long weekend, so I'll rate it up. I'm not sure if I liked this one as much as I did Pieces of Her - while I felt the two plots were more equally balanced in this one, I don't know if either were amazing.
Emily's plot was just so sad - my heart kept breaking for this poor young girl and I just wanted someone to actually care about her. I'm still not 100% sure I get the fava bean farm/cult sub plot, but it was fine I guess. I'm glad to have read more of Andrea (and honestly all of the characters from the first book), and I hope Slaughter does more with this series and these characters!
