Fire in the Blood
by Irène Némirovsky
This is a slip of a novel. Gone before you realize it, but it lingers with you. Though brief there are exquisite descriptions and insights into the choices people make. Some good. Some poor. But still there is empathy. Even though this is a draft that never had the chance to be completed or expanded, it is amazing.
