Sons and Lovers
by D. H. Lawrence
After reading enough references to D.H. Lawrence in other books, I figured it was high time to read some myself. The writing in this story is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful in places. The emotional landscape of Sons and Lovers is lush and varied and complex.
At times I struggled with the pacing and in places I became intolerant of the magnitude of angst; regarding the latter I may have appreciated this more if I had read it at a similar age i.e. my 20's.
I recognize the work for how ground-braking it was at the time it was written, upending social norms.
