Meet Your Match by Kandi Steiner
3.0

Giving this a solid 3.5 stars - I wanted to give it 4, but I found some flaws that made me dock a bit off.

I liked the general theme of this book and i liked that there was heavy elements in hockey, game play, etc. I freakin' LOVED the Coach's attitude - I am really hoping he gets a book, I don't know why but he was hilarious.
I loved the side characters, they had good personalitiies and kept it interesting.

What I didn't like? Maven, the FMC - took until 84% of the book to even give this poor guy Vince a chance. It wasn't slow burn, they were "friend's with perks" from around 40%ish but like ... 84% until she actually said "huh, maybe I can give this guy an actual chance." Like for the vast majority of this book - the MMC was being so good to her. Made her an indoor garden, made sure she was comfortable at events with the team, included her in things, showed her who he was in private and APOLOGIZED when he snapped at her... and she just ... was so stuck in her head that she wouldn't even give him an actual chance?

I also didn't like that the MMC used other women at times to get Maven to understand she was jealous and not showing her true feelings.

I also found that after around 84% the book kinda lost it's um... plot? Like it just time jumped and then the epilogue was the teaser of the next book.
It all happened so fast I feel like I got whiplash from 84% of this book being ... well, not that.

Anyways, for a solid 80% of this book I did enjoy it. Was it mindblowing? No. Did it have elements of other popular sports novels? Of course - most do at this point. Would I say it's a must read? Prooooobably not.

But I did enjoy it anyways so there's that :)
