The prose was beautiful and the story wonderfully intertwined with history. I appreciate good research and blending of storylines across times, so long as the characters are fleshed out and intriguing. I thought Brooks did an excellent job weaving everything together. Most satisfying is we had a number of narrators and lives to follow, yet none of them were the main character. Even over a century past his death, Lexington remained the focus of the book.
