I enjoyed this more than Beasts of Prey but I think that had more to do with listening to the audiobook rather than reading the physical book. The narrators weren’t particularly great (the narrator for Ekon kept veering into Yoda territory) but these books are a bit slow and easy to get bogged down in, so being able to listen while I was doing other things helped me power through. Maybe because I took such a large break between the first and second books I didn’t really buy Koffi and Elon’s relationship either. It seemed to me that they could have each been off on their own adventure, not necessarily trying to get to each other, and I would have been fine with it. Not sure if I’ll continue with this series. The potential is definitely there, but a stronger edit would have made this a much tighter and more compelling story.
