I loved a lot of things about this interracial romance featuring two POC. I absolutely enjoyed Kiera's brand of unapologetic geekery, it's so rare to see an all-out nerd who isn't afraid to bust out three cosplay options to geek out at a con. She also can't help talking her way through things, especially during a scene and such- I share this trait and was stoked to see it on the page. Both Daniel and Keira are switches, which I'd never read before in kinky books, and that was super interesting to read. I also love the sense of BDSM community and chosen family that was brought into the book.

Two things that did frustrate me: Daniel's super black-and-white approach. Several times in the book I just wanted to reach him and knock some sense into his head, and I wished one of the other characters did that. Although, upon further reflection, I can appreciate the tension it brought to the story, having been caught up in it myself. The other thing, which definitely impacted my overall impression of the book, was the ending. For all of Daniel's hemming and hawing over the life choices he felt he had to make (huge, important decisions for sure), I'm not convinced but how quickly it was resolved in the narrative. I wish this had been more a novel than a novella.
