The Young Elites by Marie Lu
4.0
I definitely enjoyed this book more the second time around. I knew, vaguely, what to expect and so I spent a lot of my time enjoying the character development. The most interesting thing about this book is I can't figure out who's good and evil. Is our main character supposed to be a villain? if so, that makes this book incredibly unique.
I had totally forgotten about the HUGE plot twist at the end with Enzo and I almost didn't believe what I was hearing when it happened. Blew me away and made me feel all weepy.
I really think Taren's character could really have been improved. Well, not his character, per se, but the plot told from his point of view. I just wasn't getting into his whole thing with the queen. I couldn't *feel* him, and that's something that I really appreciate as a reader--getting to know and feel the characters: who they are, where they come from, what drives them.
For the somewhat dull voice of the whole novel, I'd give it 4 stars. I hope the series improves.

Holy wow! This book was AH-MAZE-ING!!! This is not your standard story line...at all. Plot twists all over the place, and an unusual main character, unlike any I've ever encountered. After reading this book, I was torn between crying out in anger and crying from sorrow. My poor heart just got off the best emotional roller coaster of my life. PLEASE READ THIS BOOK!
