Nothing Can Possibly Go Wrong by Prudence Shen

3.0

This was a fun, very quick read (despite is number of pages). The pace was very fast and packed a lot into the story, but in the end, I feel like I just watched a single episode of a teen sitcom, not a full-fledged novel. I liked the characters, but the only one we really got to know was Charlie, and Nate's character revolved around his friendship with Charlie (which was sweet and genuine, don't get me wrong). I liked Charlie's interactions with Nate and with Joanna (who I love, despite her small part). Overall, the whole teen competition and robotics building was fun, but rushed. What the book was really about, to me, was Charlie and his parents. I wish we could have seen more of the conversation following Thanksgiving and see more of the reparations to the family, rather than the fighting. Still, I love Charlie and I kind of want to lay under his bed with him and talk to him and just make him happy. Kid deserves to be happy.

Also, from page one I knew Faith Erin Hicks was the perfect artist for not only this book, but also Rainbow Rowell's upcoming graphic novel.
