A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

Absolutely loved it! I still think that A Court of Mist and Fury is my favorite but this was really really amazing. Sometimes I find it hard to get through books that have wars in them because sometimes it's just non stop talk about planning and traveling and preparation but luckily this book got right to the point. There was confusion with what was happening pre fighting and the fight scenes were clear and I could actually picture what was happening. With the number of characters in this book, you could get confused and overwhelmed, however, everyone was described so perfectly and differently that I never once forgot who each person was. There were also subtle hints after we met someone as a reminder of who they were. The character development in the sisters and in other side characters was so well done. We already had what we wanted from Feyre and Rhysand so it was very nice to have everyone else get the same treatment. You love all of the side characters as much as the main characters. The last 150/200 pages had me really sweating though. I was terrified for them. That whole Rhys dying thing had me feeling way too many things. I had actually seen a spoiler about him dying before reading the ending and I was so ecstatic when they brought him back. And I'm so pleased that Maas wrote us into liking Tamlin again. Maybe not fully but I kinda always hoped he wouldn't be hated forever. He was such a huge part of Feyre's life that while I in no way supported the relationship towards the end, he did in fact, help her immensely in the beginning. And I think we all forget that without Tamlin she would have never even met Rhys sooooooo yeah.
