I had heard so much praise for this book as well as th TV series. All I knew going in was that it was YA and a great summer read.
First of all I did like this book and read it in one 7 hour session. It is definitely a straight YA romance. Think puberty blues or even looking for alibrandi. Belly is the main fmc and our narrator who is a very nieve teen trying to discover love, lust and identity. It's Summer time and the main characters are her brother and their 2 friends( both boys) and their mothers. There is the likeable Cam the summer fling and Taylor ther best friend of belly ( who is not so likeable). We flip back and forth from the present to previous summers to help build the characters personalities and history.
I feel like if I had have read this as a teen I would have loved it. However, as a mid 30's adult I found it a very easy, nieve and coming of age story. I would definitely recommend it for teenagers who are looking at getting into reading and romance books.
