I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did - after all, I'm not Chinese-American, and this semi-autobiographical book focuses on the lives of Kingston and her female ancestors. But I found it amazing and compelling. Kingston does a great job of exploring her traditions and considering how those traditions form who she is - something we all have to do eventually.
