This was exactly what I wanted it to be; it's the perfect pulpy queer 1940s noir mystery.
Graphic: Homophobia
The rising homophobia of the late 1940s is intergral to the plot of this book, and the main character is hate-crimed around 75%-80% through the book, and that has a fairly direct effect on the rest of the book. In my opinion, both of these things could not have been dealt with better, but if you're looking for an escape from homophobia, this isn't the book for you.
