The Wall by Marlen Haushofer
4.0
The Wall is a solid exploration of human vs. nature/self, and a well-written case study on what any human might think, feel, and do in isolation. While there's a lot to admire about our protagonist's resilience and introspection, the fact that she has mostly just animals and her own thoughts to interact with may leave readers consciously aware of the limits of the novel's narrative scope.
