Such an adorable story. It took me a second to get into it because I didn’t love Britany Presley’s performance as Emily because of the vocal fry she had, and I almost stopped listening. But once I heard her performance of Griffin, I was hooked. I am so glad I stuck with this story because I loved it. I love how sweet Griffin is, how understanding Emily is, and how well the story flowed. I like Bryn Donovan’s writing style and how the characters felt real. It was nice to see sex talked about and discussed instead of something the characters just did perfectly on their first try. Communication and consent are sexy. I personally don’t love that Griffin sold his armor even though he said he didn’t need it as a physical reminder to be happy and that the money went towards his and Emily’s life together. Maybe it’s just because I’m a sentimental weenie and could never part with something like that. Either way, it didn’t take away from the story at all, it is just something that hurt my heart a little. I would love to read more from Bryn Donovan, especially a story about Jason and his magical-artifact-collecting adventures. Amazing story, would definitely read again.
