Rule of Wolves by Leigh Bardugo

5.0

this book is freaking awesome!!!! it took me so long to finish because i’ve been busy with school and my reading schedule is so on-and-off (it’s horrendous), but i’m so glad i was able to finish it before my exams start!

the duology itself was just so intriguing, and i loved, loved, loved the use of characters both old and new to create such a cool plot! leigh’s writing is incredibly beautiful (as always), and i cannot wait for the next installment in the grishaverse! (speaking of which, that set-up at the end was magnificent; it had me practically squealing because aaaa i just love the crows)

as for the main characters, i loved nikolai’s charm and entire personality from his first appearance in the s&b trilogy, but i really liked how this duology (and especial rule of wolves) delved into his identity past being the ravkan king. zoya’s slowly delivered backstory helped me understand and like her character a lot more than i did when she was first introduced, and she is going to be such a good ravkan queen omg!!! also that slowburn was literally everything?!!! oh my god the mutual pining but oh i could never have them but i’d die for them and the subtle (or not-so-subtle bc it’s nikolai) flirting <3 nina’s undercover arc was literally so nerve-racking and interesting, and it was so amazing to see her processing her grief and finding love in hanne (who is so awesome too!!)

the appearance of all the remaining crows made me so so happy because i love them all so much, and i literally cannot wait for more with them. kaz brekker, you have a job and you better take it :)))

overall, fantastic book!!! i definitely would recommend reading it, but make sure to read the other grishaverse books first ;)
