The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne

This book has shaken me.
This story allows readers to see Nazi Germany through the eyes of a young boy who honestly just wanted a friend. And although his "snobbishness" (at the beginning of the book and tapering out towards the end) is the reason this book lost half the star for me, I did grow to love him. The boy on the other side of the fence allowed the young boy to grow into a more compassionate human.
