The Queen's Gambit
by Walter Tevis
Although I wasn't surprised by anything, since the show is a very close adaptation, I really got hooked; the style is very straightforward, which always appeals to me, and even the chess games were interesting. Even if none of the placements meant anything to me.
The character is a bit more conflicted than in the series, especially when it comes to violent pulsions, and I liked that you still got to follow this independant yet lonely character through her journey.
An entertaining read!
