This book is an absolute slump buster. Recently I’ve struggled to finish the last few books I’ve picked up, nothing was holding my attention until THIS. The Power Play is the best kind of book. It's fun, it’s sassy, and so freaking spicy. This is the best cam girl/secret identity romance book I’ve ever read. Add in a hot hockey player? 5 stars.

Originally I was a little nervous for the secret identity trope. It’s always one side or both that know who the other is and the secret gets so big that eventually it bursts and someone gets hurt. I was so relieved that after a few chapters they came clean. These two were thrown together by friends and Audrey was set on holding a grudge(he stood her up and never bothered to follow up). The universe intervenes and she ends up staying with him while her house is under repair. Upon helping her grab a few things he saw her filming room and he immediately knew that Audrey was Lacey(her alter-online ego), and the only woman he had been intimate with in years-even if it was through a screen. It only took Audrey seeing him without a shirt on to recognize a few characteristics, aka his abs, to know that Charlie is Charles, one of her longest(and favorite) customer.

For Audrey having such a sexualized job, this book was actually quite the slow burn. Don’t take that to mean that this book is low on spice though. There are so many tension filled hot moments between these two. Both of them come into their relationship with baggage. In fact, putting any kind of label on what they were doing would send Audrey running for the Colorado Rockies. Even though Charlie is a relationship kind of guy he still has massive trust issues thanks to a previous relationship.

This duo, and friend group, do an amazing job of forming a supportive found family atmosphere. Audrey’s bestie(Hat Trick) and her guys serve as a sounding board for both of them. Charlie holds strong and is patient while Audrey works through what a partner like Charlie means versus what she’s been told she deserves. We also get a cameo from the couple of Crossed Check, book #1.5 in the Hat Trick series. This is a phenomenally well written(and spicy) book. This is the kind of book that hockey romance readers yearn for.
