even though it focuses less on the cult and more on the outsider-looking-in lead protagonist, for me personally reimaginings of the manson murders are a bit overdone. nonetheless, Cline is an incredible writer and the story is a very interesting character study. it also take unexpected twists within characters, specifically within the lead character's dynamic with one of the cult members (in a good way)
