This is a reread. I’ve read this poetry collection cover to cover countless times, but it’s been the better part of a decade since I picked it up. I have a lot of nostalgia/sentimental value tied into this book. My undergrad poetry professor worshipped Sharon Olds. Almost all of my poetic preferences were structured around teachings in my formative years based on these poems. Each poem is so intense, so descriptive. They stick with me for days after reading them. This collection was published in 1987, so there are parts that are slightly outdated; nothing alarming. If you’re into poetry, I highly recommend this book.
