I was expecting this to be a light and fluffy enemies to lovers, fake dating romance - and while it certainly contained many light and LOL worthy moments, it also just hit me in all the feels as it addressed heavier concepts of loss, grief, isolation, and illness. A beautifully written story with wonderfully developed characters. I wasn’t sure how the douche canoe that Damian started as could possibly become likable - but his redemption arc was one of the best and I was in love with him by the end. Lexi was lovable from the start. Their journey shows the reader who important it is to be seen and to be loved for who you are and how understanding yourself can help you seek to understand others.
