Trying a new genre is such a stupefying thing and the first book in that genre must leave a good impression on your mind. Acts of God was everything like that. My first sci-fi book and I couldn't be more delighted to say that I'm really interested in the whole genre.

Kanan Gill has such a way with words because my god, this book was hilarious and geeky, a combination I didn't know I needed. To be frank, it's really confusing in the beginning. Till 40%, I had no coherent idea about what's going on but one thing is that I was really having fun with it. And when the whole universe started making sense, I had the time of my life.

The characters are all flawed, terrible and hilarious. Much effort has been put into making them multifaceted and it's really appreciated. You would not be able to guess it's a debut novel since the thoughts are articulated so wonderfully in a totally Kanan Gill fashion. His humor and wit shines in his words along with a perfect blend of philosophy, metaphors and his trademark goofiness.

The universe is bizarre, making the readers ponder if it's actually a Creator or a mad scientist, out for revenge. The funniest part has to be the fact that the book is so self aware. It was my first time reading something of such sorts and it was genuinely a great experience.

SPOILERS‼️

I can't be delusional because there are subtle undertones of love between Krishna and Perenna, right? Right? I hate the tropification of literature but c'mon, childhood friends to partners to not-so-much lovers to betrayal to death is so cool? Also, Perenna and Krishna are such complex characters, I can't stop thinking about them. They overshadowed Manjunath. Although, Heng is really cute! I wish we had more characters like him.
