Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle by Betty MacDonald

funny

3.0

This is definitely an old book (published in 1947), and it shows a little bit. Parents spank their kids, that sort of thing with how times have changed. There's also a boy named Dick, and if any of my students knew about that slang term, it would not go well as a read aloud.

My husband says this was more of a parenting guide than a children's story. Haha! Basically each chapter has some kid who has some behavior issue, and they go to Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle for advice. Whether that be a child who doesn't put stuff away, eats too small of bites, won't take a bath, etc. Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle has some eccentric ways of doing things, but her methods always work.

Kind of a silly book. My oldest liked it (age 8) and might continue to read the rest on his own. Not sure I have a desire to keep reading the series with my other kids.
