Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

5.0

I love this book so much. I haven’t read it in at least 15 years but it hit home now just as much as it did then. Being the second oldest in a family of four girls and a loving mom how could it not?? Some of the wording in this book is of its time (read: dated and no longer acceptable) but I still cherish the integrity and true belief in the goodness of people that’s at the core of this novel. Marmee’s words of wisdom have reminded me of changes I can make in my own life to be a happier, well-rounded person. I also truly loved reading the events of the novel that didn’t make it into the 1994 Winona Ryder movie that I’ve seen so much: the girls’ picnic with Laurie and the Vaughns, Beth’s friendship with Mr. Laurence, Amy & Laurie’s European courtship, and Jo and the Professor’s school for boys. I had forgotten a lot of these details and it was almost like reading it for the first time. ❤️
