I’m debating whether I should even give it a three star. The first 250 pages of the book had a lot of the same charm as the first two (and that was still around for the rest of the book but took more of a backseat). The main reason why im rating it so low is that it’s so disappointing as the conclusion of a series. It’s like for the last 150-200 pages, we remembered we’re supposed to be telling a story rather than depicting slice of life for some of the characters, so it felt very rushed and not a lot of time was given to make any of the plot explanations or “plot twists” make sense (which is especially relevant when messing with time travel). Also the actual falling action (which was nonexistent - we skipped straight from the climax to the resolution) and the resolution of the book lasted 10 pages total, and 9 pages of that was probably comedic yapping that didn’t pertain to concluding any plot lines. There’s still so many question marks left, but I don’t even want more written because it would take forever to get to the point and the point would be rushed. Overall, I feel like these books would be great if they were more of a cozy fantasy type read or a realistic fiction, maybe magical realism. Plot building and depth took such a backseat throughout the story or just ignored so many interesting avenues.
