Cloud and Wallfish by Anne Nesbet
4.0
Finally working through PLA ARCs!
This is historical fiction for kids who already have information about the Berlin Wall. For kids who aren't familiar with the wall, I think it dives a little too deeply--Noah/Jonah's parents keep a lot of secrets from him which means it's sort of up to the reader to fill in the gaps. The secret files at the end of every chapter helped, I found myself learning quite a bit. There's definitely a need for a book like this, a book that is for history lovers and who don't mind doing some thinking, a sensitive book about a difficult time in world history, and narrated by a sensitive boy. You'd need to find the right reader, but that reader will love it.
