Low stakes who?!
I was INVESTED.
This is the exact opposite of Grimdark fantasy. Perfect definition of "cozy". I loved the reading experience of this. Good execution of the found family trope and a slight drizzle of romance.
I can see why some people don't like this as much. It is comparatively low stakes, everything is kinda predictable and too convenient. But you come to like the characters and start rooting for them. So it feels good to see them happy and satisfied.
Overall, a good book to read wrapped in a blanket if you have a few hours to spare.
