Next of Kin by Hannah Bonam-Young

4.0

This story follows a woman who has to adopt her newborn baby sister and a man who wants to adopt his young brother so they must work together in order for the CPS to be happy with them. I was hooked from the first page of this book. I loved the writing style and how grasping it is. The author starts off right with the conflict and I liked that. The pacing is great and the storyline is exactly what the author promised. I liked the conflicts in the book and the cute moments that the author incorporated into the story. Also, there’s a lot of ASL moments which I thought was really cool. This story is in Chloe’s pov.

Chloe is the FMC of the story who just adopted her baby sister and is trying to balance her new life. I loved her character and seeing her develop throughout the story. She’s strong and I loved her for it. Then we have Warren who is the MMC and I really liked his character. I feel there’s more to his story which we could have learned if we got his pov but I still liked him. There were many characters in this book and my favorite was Luke who is such a sweetheart. The romance is forced proximity and enemies to friends to lovers with a tiny speck of steam. The romance was cute and I loved the romantic tension in the book.

The ending was cute and we get two epilogues that take place in two different years. I liked the first epilogue but I have to say that the second one was spoiler for the future books. Overall, I really loved this book and thought it was so cute. I recommend reading this book as you don’t want to miss out! I can’t wait to read the next book and see what happens next in this world.
