Nocturnes: Five Stories of Music and Nightfall by Kazuo Ishiguro

emotional reflective relaxing sad medium-paced

2.75

To start off, I want to say that Crooner and Cellist are easily 5-star stories. I really enjoyed them both a lot.

Come Rain Or Come Shine and Malvern Hills are good as well and easily fall between the 3-4 star range.

The problem though is the titular story Nocturne. (Broken into Nocturne and Nocturne Continued.) This story to me just dragged and dragged... and dragged some more. It is well-crafted like the rest, but it just didn't grab me in anyway and since it took up so much of the book I can't rate it higher than 2.75-stars.

Without that story, I'd rate the book 4-stars. This definitely made me interested in checking out more of his books.
