Brilliant mystery following the disappearance in the US of a 2-year-old girl, Sammy Went. 28 years later a stranger approaches Kim Leamy in Melbourne saying that he believes she is Sammy. Initially she is incredulous, but then questions arise about her background and early childhood. Her mother has died so cannot answer directly. Kim travels to the US to confront the past, in Manson Kentucky. Her apparent birth mother was in a cult.
The man who originally approached her says he is her older brother. The mystery is maintained throughout and builds to a stunning climax. Brilliantly written and exciting to read.
