When Sally Killed Harry by Lucy Roth

2.25

Let me start by saying I really wanted to like When Sally Killed Harry for two reasons:
1) A thriller about a messed-up woman killer sounds like something right up my alley, and
2) I’ve never been a fan of When Harry Met Sally.

But, unfortunately, something about this book just didn’t click for me. If I had to put my finger on it, I’d say my main issue was the chick lit tone that didn’t really change even as the things got heated. This book deals with some heavy stuff like domestic violence, but I don’t think those moments were handled with the care they deserve.. Truthfully, I was totally on-board with the romcom vibes in the beginning, expecting the narration to follow suit as things took a dark turn, but that never happened. In the end, I got more frustrated with the book than with men, which I didn’t know was possible.

Thanks to NetGalley and Avon for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
