Well, I finished this entire trilogy in 3 days so I'd say it went quite well. There were times where I was super confused because it felt like there were so many side characters with so many subplots. There are also a couple issues that I either completely skipped over or were not detailed enough. Did the Nonna ever come back to fight against the goddesses and princes or was that completely skipped? Also, I really wish we knew if Claudia and Pride ever reunited. I like knowing that the princes were so sly and conniving but still held onto their morals and values. The first chapter started with a bang (kind of), but if you read Kingdom of the Cursed, that shouldn't be a surprise. I really like Emilia and Vittoria's reconciliation and how Vittoria plays this morally-grey character. I would love to read more about her point of view. Also, there is something I love so much about Envy. I think it's his cockiness and how attractive it makes him. I'm glad that Emilia got her powers back in the end! I'm really glad the author transitioned this book from young adult to new adult because I loved reading the chemistry between Wrath and Emilia. For the majority of the book, I couldn't understand why Wrath held Emilia at arm's length, but it was fun to find out. I also really enjoyed how he prioritized her strength and independence so that she was able to make such far strides on her own.
“Get on the bed, my lady.”
His voice was soft, but there was nothing meek in the command.
Sloth gave his brother a slow smile that was anything but pleasant. “There are many texts in my collection that outline adventurous sexual positions. I probably know more ways to make a body shiver from pleasure than you do.”
A bead of sweat rolled from my hairline down my neck, and I shivered. Wrath shook slightly, burying his face in my hair, and I realized it wasn’t sweat, but tears. I mustered enough energy to wrap my arms around him, holding him as he wept.
“Oh, I see.” Lust’s voice turned mocking. “You’re angry because you’d like to be home jabbing your wife.”
“Perhaps your idea that anyone would enjoy ‘jabbing’ is why you’re unattached, brother.”
Domenico needs to be with someone who will grow old with him. And I need to be with someone I can aggravate for eternity. That is, if I choose a partner rather than simply enjoy myself on my own terms.
