The Last Detective by Peter Lovesey

4.0

The first Peter Diamond book I listened to/read was #11, because it is narrated by my audiobook boyfriend Simon Prebble. I decided to go back to the beginning and listen to the first.

Boy, Peter Diamond has mellowed over the years. He is pretty unlikable for much of The Last Detective - grumpy, close-minded, judgmental, unwilling to change. But he is pretty interesting all the same, and now that he has (spoiler, but his book was published over 25 years ago!) quit his job I have to listen to the next one to find out how he gets his job back. The ending of this one was twisty but not very believable. I really enjoyed the Bath setting.

10 stars as usual for the narration, four stars for the writing/plot/characters.
