I took a longer time to read this entry, than the previous two. I didn't like this one less, but life events were happening. However, it did give me a little more cause to... analyze this one more, as I tried to remember all the plot threads I had left dangling when I had stopped reading it at about the 2/3 point. And that extra thought about the details has me thinking that this story wasn't wrapped up as neatly as I wanted-- not in the ways that were clearly intended by the author, as there are things that are meant to presumably be resolved in later stories, but in a 'that's AN explanation, but not one that feels like it covers everything' kind of way.
Talisid is as unknowable as ever. I keep thinking we are going to get more out of him, but honestly, it's taking longer than I expected. There are new and complex developments with Onyx and Lyle though. I guess, Morden makes an appearance... but it doesn't feel like anything shifts there. And we get some new characters who figure to be relevant in at least the near future of this series, if not longer. Luna is better in this book than the last one-- I understood where she was coming from in #2, but she irritated the heck out of me! But honestly, I sometimes think that Sonder might be the best character in this thing. He is so... wholesome yet competent. Sonder continues to be the figurative mascot of the series for me.
Even though I have one or two twinges of not feeling like given explanations were good enough about developments in this book, I am still FAR from being upset enough to refuse to read any further entries. I am sure I will start #4 soon.
