The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James
4.0

Do you like your mysteries with a paranormal twist? "The Sun Down Motel" is a perfect hybrid of the two genres. The book follows a young woman named Carly--who's still reeling after the sudden death of her mother--as she travels to a small town in upstate New York to investigate the disappearance of her aunt. In 1982, Aunt Viv was last seen as the night clerk at the Sun Down Motel until she vanished without a trace. Carly steps foot into Viv's life, and immediately discovers that things aren't what they seem. Why do all of the doors bang open in the middle of the night? Why does the electricity violently flicker and go out when a certain customer checks in? The book seamlessly blends mystery and intrigue with supernatural twists, both of which kept me turning pages in a race to the finish.
