The Summer Book by Tove Jansson

5.0

This book is so beautiful. It’s such an eloquent and subtle yet honest portrayal of age. Tove expertly grasps the voices of the old (Grandma) and the young (Sophia), exploring the intrinsic fears, longings, and energy of both. It’s a vibrant tale of friendship and life, and one which has an important place in Scandinavian literature.
