The Secret of the Old Clock by Carolyn Keene

3.0

You have to appreciate this for what it is. It is certainly dated, but if you put yourself in those times then you realize it was about a young, capable female protagonist in the 1930s, who didn't need help doing things like changing tires or tenaciously following leads.

Don't expect a lot from the plot - it is beyond painfully obvious what will happen at every turn. Characterizations aren't much either, but considering the short length and wide cast of characters, it wasn't abysmal.

If Disney were to write a book in this era, this is what I might envision.

Gave it 3 stars because it at least moved quick and enteratained...and the ten year olds I read it with loved it :)
