Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco

4.0

When I first started reading this book I was struggling. It felt repetitive and slow. BUT ….. the more I read the more I needed to keep reading.

The story opens in the prologue on a dark and stormy night as two young twin witches (also known as streghe), named Emilia and Vitoria, chanting protection spells to ward off the Malgavi (also known as the Wicked).

When Vitoria is found brutally murdered, Emilia seeks vengeance by using dark magic that is strictly forbidden. She summons Wrath, one of the Wicked and he claims to be on Emilia’s side about finding out who is murdering the witches in the island. However, it appears that Wrath is not being overly truthful towards Emilia.

I will admit that by the end of this book I was left with frustration, anger, and a general sense of needing to read the second book in this series. How dare Kerri Maniscalco leave the ending of the book like that! Why? That is not what I wanted! Well done, Kerri, you have now drawn me in completely to this series and I am bound and determined to find out what happens to Emilia and Wrath.
