I bet this book is going to give me a book hangover. It's just THAT GOOD.

Although this fantasy does have a plot that has action that picks up and slows down throughout the book, I never got bored. The ending especially gave me goosebumps. Just spectacular.

I love the societal commentary that is woven throughout about war violence, war trauma, and colonization. It is done so well, and some of the quotes were so emotional and so perfect.

The romances in this are also chefs kiss. As a reader, you could cut the tension with a knife, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Also, including teenage characters that are chosen by the God's, and yet are so mischievous and flawed makes them so human, and that much more enjoyable to read about.

The writing style has an originality that I can't quite place, yet is so fitting for the story somehow. Every sentence felt purposeful to the story, and each chapter built off of previous tension without dragging it out. Honestly, the perfect pacing for a story as lush and dense as this.

I would say that this is a must read for any fantasy lovers. There is nothing that I didn't like about it, and as soon as I finished the first book I immediately wanted to go buy and read the second one. Perfection.
