The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan

5.0

“Don't feel bad, I'm usually about to die.”
The Battle of the Labyrinth AKA

the fourth installment of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series where Percy must venture into Daedalus's Labyrinth with Annabeth leading the quest, asking Percy, Grover, and Tyson along AKA

the one where Grover finally solves his identity crisis AKA

the one with Percabeth angst AKA

the one with lots of NICO DI FUCKING ANGELO!!!
Nico hesitated. "I don’t play that game anymore. It’s for kids."
"It’s got four thousand attack power," I coaxed.
"Five thousand," Nico corrected. "But only if your opponent attacks first."
I very much enjoyed this book and for the first time this whole series... I feel empty at the ending. Usually I feel hopeful of what's to come and maybe it's because of how Annabeth and Percy left things or the fact that the next book is the last but I'm genuinely horrified and good god this is an amazing feeling. Bravo.
As I sailed into the lake I realized the Fates really were cruel. They sent Calypso someone she couldn't help but love. But it worked both ways. For the rest of my life I would be thinking about her. She would always be my biggest what if.
